I didn’t have much in the way of plans for Como. Mostly I wanted to see if it is as pretty as I have heard. Spoiler alert: it is.

Lake Como

I took a class on how to make sourdough bread, which was a lovely experience. I love to bake, so learning about making a type of bread that I haven’t mastered yet was quite fun.

On my way back to the apartment I rented for my stay in Como I stopped at the cathedral, which is quite possibly my favorite cathedral in the world. It’s not the biggest, not the grandest, and certainly not the most famous, but it has an approachability to it that I found welcoming.

I also took the time to go up to Brunate in the funicular train. That is definitely one of the most enjoyable things I have ever done. Even though almost everything was closed in Brunate, I could see why people fall in love with this “Balcony of the Alps.” It must be incredible when the flowers start blooming, the grass turns green, and the trees leaf out.
