When I made my reservations for the UK, I had to make a choice: stay in London for two additional nights and then go to Wales, or find a place for the two nights between my planned departure from London and the start of my stay on the Welsh coast. I opted to stay 2 nights in Bristol, which is quite a bit quieter than London.
I took the Great Western Railway from London to Bristol Temple Meads, and I would love to say that the scenery was fantastic, but I honestly don’t know what it looked like. I was snoozing the entire way. Once I got to Bristol, I dropped my bags off at my hotel, walked back to the train station, and took the train to Newport, where I took a lesson on botanical painting (an AirBnB experience). Then, I got caught in the rain while walking back to the Newport train station. That was fun.
Once back at my hotel, I was cold, damp, and exhausted, so I just got some food, did some homework, and went to sleep. I have to admit that, while I did head out for a walkabout for a few hours in the afternoon, I spent most of that Sunday holed up in my hotel room finishing homework and relaxing away from people. It felt good to just relax and get ready for my trip to Wales.
